“I am just a mom” this is a phrase so often said but so wrong in countless ways. Yes, there are many women out there in this great big world who either chose to stay at home with their child/ren or those that need to do this due to other circumstances. These women are not “just a mom” in any way though. I am sure many of you are a stay at home mom like myself. If you are then you know being a mom whether you work outside the home or not is not “just” anything. Being a mom is a full time job with no paid holidays, sick days, or anything but yet we are the richest because our pay raises come in the form of hugs, kisses and smiles. This I personally think is way better than any employer can hand out even if it doesn’t pay for those never ending toys desires.
I was granted the chance to read the Chicken Soup for the Soul Stay at Home Moms edition and was ecstatic when I saw that was one of the titles I would be reading. Now by now if you are a follower of this blog you know I am partial to these books. But with being a Stay at Home Mom this was a great way to know there are others who have asked the same questions, been in the same situations, and faced the same problems. Even if you have a group of friends that are stay at home moms their stories or reasons are still different. In this book there are stories from women of all walks of life. So there is bound to be a story that you can relate too, or even just touch your heart and let you know that you are not in this alone and not alone in feeling as you do sometimes.
I love this book and know without a doubt I will be reading it multiple times over if for nothing else just to reinforce that someone else has been there and made it through. Or I may even just reread some to get a laugh over some child’s antics they pulled. This book will turn into one of those dog eared never letting go of copies that will sit with all my others that I can’t stand to part with.
I would suggest everyone to read this book. It doesn’t matter whether you are a mother or not everyone can learn something from this book. For those that are not mothers but read this maybe you will have a new perspective as to why we do what we do or even if you are a dad then you can see that what the mother of your children say happen really does and in every house that has children in them. I truly think everyone can take away a new knowledge if they were to read this book. So try to win your own copy or go and buy one. You will be truly amazed at the stories you will relate too!!
