Ok, I have learned to be a little more Earth friendly the older I get. When I had the opportunity to work with Willow Pads Natural Feminine Care I was reluctant, but took the leap anyway. Some topics just don’t get a lot of publicity and I would say that Natural Feminine Care products are one of those areas. I was surprised when I recieved my Reusable Leak-Proof Pad from Willow Pads.
It was in a cardboard box that was made from recycled materials so that way its is better for the environment. My Nana would be proud of me because I even reused the empty box. You can see the pad here wrapped up inside its self with the neat little snap. I used the pad on one of my heavy flow days to put it to the test and I was impressed. It was a little bulkier than the thin maxi pads we have now days, but it wasn’t enough to make it a deal breaker.
After the pad was used I soaked it in the sink for a little bit to get out the excess blood. I admit this was my least favorite part of the whole process. Then I through it into the washing machine with some other clothes. I was surprised at how clean it came because I did expect some leftover blood to be in the fabric but it was just as clean as it was when I received it in the mail.
I would definently suggest buying more than one pad to make it through the day. I would have preferred to have at least 2 a day, but as much as I do laundry it wasn’t that big of a deal. I’m not sure that I will go “green” with all of my feminine products but even if I use a pad 2-4 times a week during my period I am saving a little space in the landfill.
